Tax Receipts
Donate Valuables for Tax Receipts
Valuables and other high-quality items may be eligible for tax receipts. Donations may include multiple items, provided that the combined Fair Market Value (FMV) is $500 or more. Donations meeting these criteria may qualify for a Charitable Tax Receipt under CRA guidelines. Frequently received donations that are eligible for tax receipts include jewelry, collectibles, antiques, and luxury brand items.
Definition of Fair Market Value
Fair Market Value refers to the price an item would sell for in the open market at one of our Thrift Store locations.
For certain items, a third-party appraisal may be required to confirm Fair Market Value and establish eligibility for a receipt.
Charitable Tax Receipts
• Charitable Tax Receipts are issued based on CRA guidelines and donor requests.
• Not all donations automatically qualify; items must meet Fair Market Value criteria.
• Receipts are processed once the donation has been reviewed, appraised (if needed), and accepted.
• Receipts are dated for the day the donated items are receiving at one of our locations.
