Following a three month closure The Salvation Army Thrift Store re-opens at a new larger location in Bells Corners.
Opening on Wednesday, February 27th at 1826 Robertson Road in Nepean, the Thrift Store will be hosting a grand opening celebration for guests and donors who have missed their local community hub. “We’re starting a new chapter after over 30 years in this community and are overjoyed to be back serving residents who are like family to us,” says Michele Walker, Director of Retail Operations at The Salvation Army Thrift Store.
The Thrift Store closed their doors at their former location on Moodie Drive following the demolition of the plaza last November. The new location on Robertson Road will provide close to 7,000 retail square feet and a larger Donor Welcome Centre for donors to drop off their gently used items. “This new location will offer even more FAB Finds for the entire family in clothing, household items, furniture and more. It’s going to be incredible!” Walker added.
The Thrift Store, one of seven in the city, has played a vital role in the community providing funds annually to support neighbours in need through Salvation Army programs, services and emergency relief efforts that assist in the fight against poverty for families and individuals. “Shopping and donating with us means so much to this community, as you are giving to a good cause that assists thousands locally. We are so proud to be making a difference in Ottawa,” says Walker.
The new location will be opened by Member of Parliament for Nepean Chandra Arya, local councillor Rick Chiarelli of Ward 8 College and Salvation Army representatives, accompanied by a Salvation Army brass band, refreshments and giveaways for the first 100 guests. Throughout the day there will be activities such as DIY advice session from interior decorator Erin Rochon and a live broadcast from Boom 99.7 FM.
