How Thrifting has Impacted my Sustainable Choices

Over the past 5 years I’ve become an avid thrifter, and through my experience I naturally started to become a conscious shopper and make more sustainable choices. So for Earth Day I wanted to dedicate this blog post to my personal experiences and how I was able to organically make choices that were more eco-friendly!

When I first started thrifting I was overwhelmed with all that was there. But as I started to thrift more and more I ended up falling in love with the process since it was like looking for treasure –  which makes the experience more enjoyable because chances are you’ll be the only one picking up a unique individual item! As time went on I started to get curious and look more into where things went and what people did when they were done with their things.

As I did my own research I then realized how beneficial it was to shop second hand because it’s more affordable and it’s the best sustainable way to shop and re-use second hand items and give it new life again! It really taught me to be more of a conscious consumer where I would only shop for things I really need and to always donate if I’m getting rid of my gently used clothes, home items, or miscellaneous knick-knacks.

And so for #EarthDay I encourage you to take a look on how you can make more sustainable choices to help the environment! Big or small, anything counts and will make an impact. It’s not about being the most perfect environmentalist, it’s about making those subtle changes that you can add that will last a lifetime.
