Thrift n’ Treat Fun From a Distance

Contributed by: Denise of Thrifty by Design and Salvation Army Thrift Store Creative Expert

This Thrift n' Treat season is looking pretty different this year. Some of us will be social distancing trick-or-treating, some of us will get our spook on virtually and some of us will stay home in our small bubble redefining how we celebrate this fun occasion to dress up with friends and family. Whichever way you decide to experience Thrift n' Treat this year, your local Salvation Army Thrift Store has lots of spook-tacular finds for everyone.

For those social distancing trick-or-treating…

You can find tons of costumes secondhand. You can even create your own ensemble with thrifted scores. Costumes, makeup, wigs and more can be found to create your look.

For those getting spooky online…

Dress your space up and dress yourself up to make the most of your virtual party. Wigs, masks, headgear and makeup can help make your online get-together fun –  and they can ALL be found at your local Thrift Store!

And for those looking to do something different...

Try some frightful game playing, a game of hide and seek for treats throughout the home, or maybe even scary storytelling. Or, spend the evening getting crafty… Restyle mason jars into jack-o-lanterns, repurpose pillowcases into ghosts, or turn thrifted jars into potion or spell bottles right out of Harry Potter. With some thriftspiration and imagination, the possibilities are endless!

Regardless of how you decide to celebrate this year, be sure to stay safe and take care. Happy Thrift n' Treat!
