10 Ways to add colour in 2019

I've started the year off with the decision to be 'bold'. I've jazzed up my hair with a black-burgundy colour spiced up with some purple streaks cause why not. I've also decided to take some fashion risks by mixing it up with lots of colour and combining colours I never thought to (apparently I have a thing for purple and red). And I've restyled my place with the addition of new upholstery on a couple of my chairs, thrifted art on my walls and even new to me blankets in my bedroom. All this is possible thanks to your local Salvation Army Thrift Store.

I've scored quite a few FAB pieces in my thrifting adventures recently that are helping me add colour to my 2019. Ya gotta love funky finds on a budget!

Here are 10 ways to add some colour into your 2019:

1. Set your home decor ablaze:
Check out the home decor area of your local Salvation Army Thrift Store for colourful plates, vases or frames. You can usually find a large plate with a bright pattern that you could use as a feature on your dining room table or hang it on your wall.

2. Thrifted fabric for restyling furniture:
I've lucked out quite a bit over the years with gorgeous upholstery fabric finds. Reupholstering is a simple way to refresh a chair. And if you're really lucky you'll score both a chair and the fabric secondhand.

3. Accessorize your blacks and greys with bold colours:
Another easy way to jazz up your place is by finding bright and unusual pillows. I found this cute wool pillow years ago. It really adds some vibrance to my place.

4. Funk up your vibe with shoes:
You can always add some pizzazz to a low key outfit by scoring funky secondhand shoes from your local Salvation Army Thrift Store. Sometimes you can come across brand name shoes or boots that up your funky vibe.

5. Swank up your home with art:
Whether you buy a piece of art or make art from a thrift store find, it's a great way to swank up your home.

6. Signature finds:
My latest fashion score is this blouse... I love it! And I also found the perfect cardigan for it at the same time. The blouse is a definite show stopper... I think it even matches my hair!

7. Bling it up:
You can always find one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces like costume earrings, stunning broaches or eye catching necklaces. Try something a little out of your comfort zone and see how you feel.

8. Switch out buttons:
Another simple way to add colour is to take a blouse or blazer and change the buttons. Sometimes you can find vintage buttons that'll add some pizzazz at your local Salvation Army Thrift Store.

9. Put a bow on it:
Putting a bow on it means adding an accessory to something drab to make it fab. Maybe a funky broach to a boring hat or some trim to a standard blazer. Be adventurous and innovative.

10. Take risks:
I never thought I'd be wearing a purple leather jacket... And am surprised to find myself wearing a deep red wool scarf with it. But for me it works. The jacket was an amazing find. Both are risk takers and I love it!
