In a community where businesses come and go, The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Strawberry Hill, Nova Scotia has weathered countless changes to celebrate 20 years serving those in need.
“It’s nice to know we’re still here playing our part in helping out the community, supporting our guests and the environment,” says Store Manager Jenny Hayley. A part of the team for the last 19 years, Jenny has been with Strawberry Hill almost from the beginning. “We are so very proud!” she added.
For District Manager Julie Buchanan the pride of the 13-member-team has played a major part of their incredible success. “The team has so much pride in their work which is reflected in their recent recognition from the Coast,” she said. The store recently won best ‘Second Hand Shop’ from the local Coast newspaper.
“Every time you go into that store you can sense the comradery which is evident in the amount of volunteers they always have. They work hard to keep things fresh,” she said. “I want to congratulate them on a fantastic 20 years!”
The location and the community have transformed over the years but for Jenny one thing remains the same. “Our atmosphere, the quality of the product we put out and the fact that we treat our guests and team like family has remained constant over the years,” says Jenny.
