Around this time we're usually ready to do a big spring clean and purge all those unused items. Either we give them to family, friends or to our local Salvation Army Thrift Store. Before dropping off your items be sure to get them ready for donation. Here are 5 easy ways to prep your donations:
1. Wash your donated clothes
Clean your old clothes before throwing them in a bag. This will remove dirt, make them smell fresh and prepare them for someone else to love.
2. Check your furniture, purses, jackets
You may find loose change, bits of food or even keys. Who knows!
3. Clean home decor and kitchenware
Don't donate coffee stained mugs or cake smeared plates. Give your donations a quick clean then pack them up.
4. Wrap up breakables
The last thing you want is for your donations to break or get damaged before they reach your local Salvation Army Thrift Store. You could even wrap them in your clothing donations!
5. Check CD & DVD cases
Before donating any CDs or DVDs be sure to check the case. You definitely want the CD or DVD to be in the case to be enjoyed by another music or movie fan.
And lastly be sure to enjoy the spring purge... I always feel that if I give good stuff then I'll definitely score good stuff at my local Salvation Army Thrift Store. It's the cycle of secondhand awesomeness and a great motto for any thrifter.
